We are here. Twenty three of us. We come from all different areas of the globe – from Russia to China to El Salvador to Kentucky and everywhere in between. Our backgrounds are all unique. A giant amalgamation of interests, experiences, and personalities. Our aim is lucid – to better our understanding of design. As we continue building our relationships as a group – known to you all as the three-oners – we begin to realize the amount of knowledge we can gain from each other. This sharing of information will be a large portion of what we will take from our experience here at SoA.
But this should not be confined to just us. We would like to open the doors, knock down the walls, flatten the stairs, and purge every other crazy obstacle in this building. We desire to take in all of your knowledge and feed ours back in.
It is with this objective that this blog will transpire. An epic anecdote of our experience moving through the three year graduate architecture program here at UIC and our interactions with everything architecture. These adventures will be imbibed, distilled, and disseminated by Nayereh, Matt, and myself.
We seek comments, critique, and feedback from the entire body of SoA. We hope all will expect the same from us. Visit us. Talk to us. Read our blog.
And here is a short stop motion animation (done by our own Matt Messner) to show we have passion… and work really fast.

Really looking forward to this blog, especially having come straight into the 2nd year of the program and not having Paul (or Penelope) for studio.
that video is awesome, Matt! It totally brings back memories of my time in Bootcamp two years ago – first two weeks of gruelling hard work, meeting new people, getting settled in the studio, finding your way through the maze of this Walter Netsch bunker…
I think the best work you (as a collective) did in those two weeks is the consecutive section grids. {nudge nudge}
Two thumbs up, Matt!
